Fleeing from your country is not something you do lightly. It has a major impact on someone’s life. In this training, you will gain more insight into this and discover how you can contribute to the well-being of refugees.
How can you contribute to the mental well-being of recognized refugees? As a volunteer or professional, you work with people on the run and you come up against boundaries. What plays a role in mental well-being, what can you do, which boundaries do you respect, which resources are there…
During this training, you will:
- Get to know the balance of well-being
- Gain insight into the burdens and capacities of people on the run
- Gain insight into resources, both within yourself and among people on the run
- Consider your own boundaries and those of others
- Get practical tips

Presenter: Dr. Maya Lane and Mary Carroll
Dr. Maya Lane brings a passion for language, culture, and mental well-being. She works with individuals with migration backgrounds and organizations, specializing in culturally sensitive education and supporting those with low education or language proficiency.
Mary Carroll, a licensed psychologist, has been supporting Ukrainian refugees in Sarasota since 2022. With over 20 years of experience counseling immigrants and working with nonprofits, she is dedicated to helping individuals build resilience and thrive.
