As a new immigrant, you can participate in our immigrant integration programs. Our program coordinator and volunteers will support you with the services you need!

Florida Life and Culture – Social Mentoring Program

If you are over 18 years old, you can participate in our “Florida Life and Culture” program”. Join us to learn about life in the United States and Florida! In our group sessions at the center or with a friendly mentor, you’ll discover important cultural information to help you in your new life!

What is the Florida Life and Culture Program?

Conversations in English with a mentor/tutor
Sessions with a group or with an individual mentor buddy
You will get to know about American customs and society
You will meet new people
You will learn about local organizations and institutions

How do I rent an apartment?
How do I look for work?
What are my rights and obligations?
What do I need to know about insurance?

How do I participate?

For 6 months or more if you need
In a small group at the center
In a group that speaks English at my level
or meet with an individual social mentor-friend
With people from other countries
With native-speaking mentor or from my culture

NicerFL Buddy Mentor

o Meet a buddy-mentor who speaks your language and knows English well, or connect with a friendly local.

o Together, you can explore places that interest you and your family, have fun activities, and discover the beauty of the Suncoast!

o You’ll meet for 6 months, giving you a chance to practice your English while your buddy learns from you!
